- Great Expectation is an evocative piece of art. With profound meaning. Ghosts from the past. A band of gold, a symbol of love red roses. Questions, but no answers. subliminal. Blank pages in an open book, with dusty tome of knowledge close by. Is it a face in the smoke from the candle? or simply an illusion? Shaft of light illuminate the open pages whilst almost obliterating the shadow of a monk, an apparition? More questions. This painting is full of so many odd things, are they in keeping or simply ramblings of the artist.Judith Webb
